Let’s be honest, nothing will top last month, will it?
Daisy (1 Year!)
My baby girl turned 1! It’s surreal to think Daisy has been in our lives for 1 whole year already. She has been a bundle of energy since I was 13 weeks pregnant with her, and she still is as content as she was when she was first placed into my arms.
Daisy got lots of presents and was her normal happy, bouncy self all day. She had her first fairy cake (cupcake) too.
Ewan was lucky to get 2 photos of her laying on her superhero milestone blanket because all she wants to do is crawl about!
I’ve now realised that will be the last time she uses her superhero milestone blanket for now, well until she’s 2… I don’t want to think that far ahead yet!
Went to Visit Family
Not being able to see family and friends throughout the pandemic has been difficult for everyone, but despite his tough exterior, Ewan has been quite low that none of his family had gotten to meet Daisy yet.
The week that Daisy’s birthday fell on, Ewan also had the week off so we planned to visit his aunt and uncle a couple of hours away. We all did a lateral flow test the night before, and thankfully, all negative.
The day after Daisy’s birthday, we all headed to Skegness. Ewan and I hadn’t been there since 2015/2016 so it felt very weird for me to realise how times had changed.
Daisy was good as gold the whole time, a bit shy at first in regards to cuddles but she loved having cuddles with them before we left. We hadn’t seen them since they came to our wedding in 2019, both have been through a lot during that time, health-wise, but it was really good to see how they are both doing now.
Struggling A Little
Things have been a little tough recently, mainly financially. I don’t want to talk too much about it, but I really hope it’s a blip and we get ourselves on the straight and narrow again soon.
Booster
To be honest, I was quite confused with the Covid booster because some people were saying they had a different one to their first two doses. I had the Oxford-AstraZeneca for my first two doses, so when I found out that I’d be having the Pfizer for my booster, I was hesitant.
But they reassured me it was completely safe, but to be on the safe side, we had to wait in my car for 15 minutes in case I had a reaction. Thankfully, I didn’t. I only had a niggly headache at night and a bit of a sore arm where they administered it but was fine otherwise.
Oh, I didn’t have my flu jab at the same time, can’t remember why but it had to be rescheduled.
Physio
I remember the last part of this particular session was really good, but I can’t remember what I did in the first half…
Anyway, recently when using the bars, I had to sit down after one length to catch my breath and gear myself up to do another length after a few minutes of rest. But this time, I managed to walk one length, turn myself around, then walk back to my powerchair, turn myself around again then sit down.
This pleased me very much and knackered me a lot too! I’m slowly getting there!
Satanic, False, and 11 Trolls
If you follow me on Twitter, then you’ll know what I’m on about. I’d not long tweeted asking if anyone wanted to do ‘pin for pin’ which is where they retweet your pinned tweet, and you retweet theirs. Later the same day, I got a notification that I received a message in my DM’s.
So, I read it, and some random person had sent me a prayer. Basically, they were trying to get me to convert to a pure Christian. I have mentioned it before, but I will say it again, I’m not religious, but I am open-minded, but what I don’t agree with is when people continue to shove religion in your face when you’ve already stated no.
Then a comment appeared, the same person who sent me the prayer, saying that my tweets sounded satanic, that I was false, and that my blog isn’t secular (religion-focused).
First of all, when have I ever posted/tweeted something that sounded satanic? How do I appear false? I’m not like other people who pretend to be living the perfect life… and why would I talk about religion on my blog when it’s something I’m not overly interested in talking about?
Then they kept going on about being a pure Christian via DM, so I kindly told him to leave me alone, but nope, he wanted an answer. What answer you’re probably wondering? Well, it turned out that he had retweeted my pinned tweet and I didn’t retweet his.
His pinned tweet was claiming that Covid is a scam – see why I didn’t retweet this? I blocked him and thought that would be the end of it. Hahahahaha, nope!
He contacted me via a different account, claiming to be someone completely different but it was blatantly obvious. Same old drivel from his first message, so I blocked him again. I was annoyed by this point, and hoping it had stopped. Hahahahaha, nope.
This went on over 11 different accounts, over 3 days. Constantly pestering me, asking me stupid questions, and was adamant to know if Ewan had been punished. After the third account, Ewan messaged him to leave me alone, but I don’t know what else was said as I don’t control what Ewan says…
Ewan did tell me that this guy said he hoped I burn in hell, am I wrong in assuming that someone’s partner wouldn’t react to that? I took some screenshots of the different accounts and messages, kept blocking and reporting until one of his messages stated there were a total of 50 of them.
Yup, 50 bloody accounts. I wasn’t going to take anymore of this crap, so I had to do something before it became stupidly out-of-hand. My message to this troll was “I have taken screenshots of several of your accounts and will be sending these to Twitter, and if you continue to harass me, I will be getting the police involved”
13-year-old me would have been so proud for finally taking a troll down a peg or two!
He didn’t like that one bit, the cat indeed got its tongue! Not heard from him since, dare I say hallelujah? Wouldn’t want people to think I’ve converted to a pure Christian now, would I?
Social media is bloody wonderful, isn’t it?
Blood Test, and MRI
At last! This is the blood test to hopefully, finally, tell us if I have Mitochondrial Disease, and to check for any tumours due to my faulty SDHB gene, which can cause them. The MRI checks too.
I was all ready for the blood test, but it’s when they take sooooo long trying to find a vein, and constantly prodding my skin, I’m heading down the road to faintsville. They tried to fit a cannula first, ready for my MRI, which they did find a vein, but then something messed up and they took it out.
Wondering if there is blood in my head at this point, sure as hell didn’t feel like any was left! Finally, they did manage to take some blood, after a little cry…from me, not them. I am fine with blood tests as long as they are quick.
They left the cannula for the MRI people to do. Fine by me, hopefully, they’d do it quicker!
Time to be hoisted up! Felt weird being in a hoist again after so long, but all went smoothly. I was laying down when they were trying to find somewhere to place the cannula, but despite them taking a little while, I think lying down helped as I was calmer for some reason.
Worth mentioning that I had to have this dye administered to show up any abnormalities. Being in a MRI scanner, at Addenbrooke’s, did cause me to have a lump in my throat because the only time I had an MRI at Addenbrooke’s was when I was in ICU, and kept fading in and out of consciousness.
3 years on, and I have a daughter and husband at home, it made me reflect on a lot. Not long after, I nodded off. That made time go by quicker, and I was soon out, cannula out, hoisted back into my powerchair, and we were on our way home.
I’m pleased to say that the MRI showed no abnormalities and my blood test didn’t indicate any signs in relation to tumours. Just waiting for the big result now…
Flu Jab
I had to go into my local Boots store to have my flu jab, which felt a bit weird going into the town centre, popping in a shop and having a jab… as you do. Mum told the woman who was going to do the job, that I’m deaf, and on the way to the side room, she turned around and started talking to me, with her mask on.
I really do give up with people. If you’re not going to listen, then I’m not wasting my energy and will ignore you. Simple.
Had to stay in the shop for 5 minutes incase I had a reaction, I needed to get some new dummies for Daisy anyway. Only a niggly headache and a sore arm, but otherwise no other side effects.
Physio
Yesterday I had physio, and although it might not sound like a lot to everyone, but when you suffer from fatigue and weakness, it is a lot. I haven’t done lengths with just my walking frame and 2 people assisting me since… a long time ago, so we wanted to try and work on that.
I had to take a break after each length because it was really hard work, but I’m really proud to have managed 4 lengths with my frame and 2 assistants. I don’t want to get my hopes up at this point, although it’s hard not to, but I would love to be able to walk 1 length with just my walking frame, maybe one day…
What’s Happening in December?
I really need to get my butt into gear, I’m still behind on so many things. I’d love to start the new year with nothing on my to-do list. I hope I get the main result from my blood test, I’m usually a very patient person but my patience is wearing thin on this.
Content-wise, I need to write up September’s and October’s review of The Stationery Society subscription box. I think I’ll leave it with 2 so I don’t put any more pressure on myself for the month.
Physio will hopefully continue, not sure what’s happening now especially since this new variant has emerged. Ewan wants to go and see the new Spider-Man film in a couple of weeks, I’m hesitant about him going but we’ll see.
Hopefully, it’s a bit of a slower month because everything has been so fast-paced. I think that’s everything.
How was your month overall?
