My writing journey began when my first guest post was published on Scope’s Online Community, and I’m immensely grateful for the writing opportunities that I have been offered since. Seeing my written words out in the open, publicly and for all to see, it felt freeing.
Ever since an early age, I disliked expressing myself through writing because everyone, mainly teachers, belittled me after reading my work. I know that I’m not a talented writer, I just say how it is. If everyone’s writing style was the same, would that not be boring?
I was overwhelmed when I received a lot of positive feedback after people had read my first guest post. The main thing that I have learned throughout my nearly 3 years of writing, is that writing can be a very powerful thing, especially when others can relate to you.
The over-thinker that I am, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my writing journey and if it is something that I would like to continue with, and maybe even pursue further. The answer to that is yes, I do want to continue writing and I would like to earn money by becoming a freelance writer. However, another question looms over me, am I ready to become a freelance writer?
… and the answer to that is a definite no. I don’t feel ready to start charging for my written work.
Personally, I still feel like I don’t have enough experience underneath my belt with writing for different publications. It’s not that I don’t think that my work is worth any value, because it is, to me anyway. I just would like to gain more experience with writing for different publications and audiences.
