After being gifted The Stationery Society’s Subscription Box (seaside-themed) to review, I subscribed and now pay quarterly for the subscription – as I really enjoyed reviewing their first box, I will continue to review each box. October’s themed box, from The Stationery Society, was filled with lots of sweet treats indeed and made me crave a lot of sweet things! I was convinced that for October’s theme, it would have been Halloween so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out it would be brimming with sweet goodies!
Now, the important question – what is your favourite sweet treat or piece of candy? I’m so bad with Haribos, they are my weakness! Especially the new flavours in their Starmix bag – yum! I’m really tempted to add them to the shopping list this week now, no… I won’t, I’ll be good, I eat too many of them anyway.
Sweets have a nostalgic feel to them, don’t you think? Did you ever hear your parents talk about penny sweets? Or find photos of sweets you used to eat when you were younger? The term used when referring to sweets from my younger days is ‘Retro’ – oh my goodness, I’m only 27 and that makes me feel so old!
Anyway back on topic! Shall we see the goodies inside the Sweet Treats themed box?

Lisa Kirkbride designed 2 cards in this set, which might be blatantly obvious to you, but it wasn’t to me! I kept looking at them both thinking “Wow! What are the odds of finding 2 different artists who create the same design?!” It’s only just clicked… 4 months later. I think her designs would definitely appeal to Gemma, from Wheelescapades – she loves an afternoon tea, and seeing the tiers of sweet treats (I kept getting tongue-tied and end up saying sweet tweets!) would definitely be right up her street!
It’s a tough one to pick a favourite, but I think the design by Natasha Cole is the winner for me – although I’m a bit erm and arr about the yellowy background, I love the design… plus it makes me crave a doughnut every time I see it!
Pin Badge by Aissa Tyley
Oh, I love this pin badge! The photo doesn’t do it justice, it is a vibrant little badge and gives you a real sense of fun. I don’t miss skipping at all but this little character has some serious talent! I mean skipping with an ice lolly AND an ice cream… how are there no spillages?
Plus, this must be the parent in me, because the first time I looked at the badge, I said to myself, “No, you shouldn’t be skipping while holding things – especially things that could end up in your face or someone else’s…”
All seriousness though, it’s a cute and fun little badge!
Notebook by Fox & Fauna
I will admit, this design doesn’t appeal to me. I’ve never been a fan of allsorts sweets, they don’t look appealing – sorry if I’ve offended your love for them! I’m very much an animal lover but, to me, it seems like an abundance of cats – Amy will probably bite my head off for this as she is a huge lover of cats and would argue that there could never be an ‘abundance’ of cats.
Also, it was an A6 notebook and I don’t get on well with them.
Notepad
This beautiful notepad is absolutely lovely, the pages are very smooth and the design is very much my cup of orange juice (I don’t drink hot drinks – don’t hate me!) I want to credit the creator extra brownie points for making the lines so vivid – I can actually write in a straight line with them, yay!
I’d happily buy this notepad again and again – it’s so much better (and prettier!) than writing on the back of an envelope or an important letter which you then have to take with you to an appointment and the receptionist knows your shopping list…
This notepad alone is the best stationery item in October’s box!
