After being gifted The Stationery Society’s Subscription Box (seaside-themed) to review, I subscribed and now pay monthly for each box – as I really enjoyed reviewing their first box, I will continue to review each box. All thoughts are my own. Read my full disclosure for more information.
As I’m now a full-time powerchair user and have gotten older (I say that like I’m in my 50’s and I’m only 26), autumn has become a season I no longer enjoy. I yearn for the longer days and lighter nights.
When I saw the theme that The Stationery Society chose for September would be autumn-themed, I had mixed feelings. I had no doubt about the quality of the products, but I had doubts about the designs, would they be all the same?
The Stationery Society continues to donate 25% of sales from each box to a worthwhile cause each month. In September, they donated to FareShare – Every week they provide enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people.
Autumn used to be my favourite season before I became disabled. Walking through crunchy leaves always bought a smile to my face and I was fascinated as the leaves changed colours.
The Stationery Society Subscription Box – Autumn Themed

When I first looked at the selection of cards in this month’s box, I wasn’t immediately drawn to them. I think this was mainly due to never seeing autumn-themed cards before, and that, personally, I couldn’t think of a reason why I would intentionally buy an autumn-themed card.
Since receiving TSS subscription box every month, I’ve tried to review every aspect – do I like the item because of the design or the intention of it? That’s what my above thought is based on.
After a closer look at each design, I became more attached to the design by BeeBrownHive (top-middle) as I do love butterflies and the symmetry took me back to my infant school days where I had a bit of an obsession with symmetrical patterns, so that was a nice moment.
Pin Badge by Fancy Folk
It took me a little while to figure out what was inside the pumpkin… then I realised it was upside down! Considering I’m not a fan of pumpkins (lost their appeal over the years) and I don’t like mice, I actually thought this pin badge was bloody adorable!
The pin badge is my favourite item from September’s box, it’s unusual, it’s cute and I love it!
Notebooks by Claire Nicholson and Ebony Newton
I used to love A6 notebooks, you could fit them in a jacket pocket, a bag and could take them here, there and everywhere. Unfortunately, it’s not that I don’t like them anymore, it’s purely that my hands don’t get on well with them.
Due to my poor fine motor skills and dexterity, the smaller something is, the harder it is to use/pick up/grip the item. Small notebooks are merely foes to my hands but did I like these designs this month?
Unfortunately, I didn’t feel anything from looking at them, but this is only my opinion, I know these designs would appeal to so many people. As always, the quality of the products featured in TSS boxes has been fantastic, including these notebooks.
A5 Print by Lisa Kirkbride
I find A5 prints a bit hit and miss, maybe it’s because I’m very selective in what photos/prints we have on the walls as we no longer have much space to decorate at present. I follow Lisa Kirkbride on Instagram and I always enjoy looking through her designs.
As much as I love the symmetrical aspect, the design didn’t appeal to me, sadly. Lisa is an incredible artist, if you’re on Instagram, give her a follow because there will be more than one design that you’ll love!
I’d like to think I’m a nice person, so this has been my first not-so-positive review and part of me feels bad for saying exactly how I feel about these items. But that’s just it. I wanted to continue reviewing The Stationery Society’s subscription boxes as I really enjoy writing about them (more so, the positive reviews obviously!)
I shouldn’t feel bad for writing a near full-on negative review, everybody’s opinions are different, everybody’s opinions are valid. It’s normal not to like every single thing, and that’s OK.
